Up to 1,500 rubles: planning active recreation
Climbing walls, aqua complexes, cycle tracks, and much more
In the “Moscow on Any Budget” section, we talk about how to plan your leisure time with maximum efficiency. This is a selection of options for spending a weekend in the capital inexpensively with health benefits.
ZIL Akvatoriya
A modern sports complex in Danilovsky district
aquatoria-zil.ru
This is a modern sports complex located near two picturesque green areas of Moscow — Tyufeleva Roshcha Park and the Marc Chagall Embankment. There are two swimming pools in the water area. One is an outdoor pool located on the building roof which is open even in winter: it has night-time illumination, and the water temperature does not fall below 28 degrees. A visit to the pool costs 500 rubles, and the price also includes a visit to the sauna and the rental of a deck-chair in the sunbathing area.
Moreon
A large water park with a bath complex
more-on.ru
This is a giant water amusement complex with slides whose combined length is more than one kilometer. In total, Moreon has more than ten water zones, including heated outdoor swimming pools, a pseudo-bay with the effect of an underwater current and a lagoon with artificial geysers. The entrance ticket (1,500 rubles) has no time limit: guests can arrive in the morning and have fun all day long, but tickets should be bought in advance on the website, as the price is higher at the entrance.
Sky Trampoline Park
A complex of attractions for active recreation
80 Leningradsky Avenue, building 11
nebojump.ru
This is an entertainment center where visitors can jump on more than a hundred trampolines — from high-altitude trampolines to those for gymnastics and sports. Most of the games available to visitors are also connected with trampolines: trampoline basketball, bumper ball (players must put the ball in the opposing team’s goal while wearing a huge inflatable sphere), and dodgeball (a team sport similar to the playground game). Other amusements include a rope course, a slackline, and an obstacle course. An unlimited ticket on weekdays costs 1,300 rubles, while on weekends, it is an additional 500 rubles.
Chayka Swimming Pool
The embodiment of the Khrushchev Thaw and swimming in the open air
chayka-sport.ru
This is the most beautiful swimming pool in the capital: the building was built in the late 1950s and became an example of Soviet modernism. Chayka is a completely outdoor pool which operates all year round, and in addition to swimming, visitors have access to a wide range of activities, from aqua aerobics to gymnastics. The pool is usually attended by subscription, as the prices for a one-time visit are high, but in the evenings (after 20:00), a visit costs 1,500 rubles.
PandaPark
A rope park and climbing wall for the whole family
pandapark.org
This is a large indoor skypark with a dozen rope routes of varying complexity. Some of the suspended structures are ten meters tall, and guests can descend both by trolley — inclined cable — or in free fall on the extreme Jump attraction. PandaPark is designed for visits with children (it should be borne in mind that some attractions have height and weight restrictions), and a family ticket costs 1,500 rubles when purchased in advance.
BigWall Climbing Wall at VDNKh
Real urban rock climbing for children and adults
09:00 — 23:00
This is an urban climbing center at VDNKh where both professional climbers and beginners in the sport can practice. Visitors can try to climb to the top of a simulated mountain, conquer a 13-meter vertical stand, or follow routes of varying complexity: the trainers help in selecting the option best suited to the visitor’s physical fitness. Single visit: 1,000 rub.
Velo1
A cycling path that will connect Moscow and Saint Petersburg
Moscow Region, Dmitrov Urban District, Yakhroma
Free of charge
The first segment of the Velo 1 cycling path under construction from Moscow to Saint Petersburg is about twenty kilometers long and connects Yakhroma and Dmitrov. It is a bike route with a picturesque view of the Moscow Canal and a smooth surface which is suitable for riding at a walking pace. There are repair stations located along the track, where riders can inflate their tires or replace wheels if necessary. Riding on the path is free.
SkyTown
A multi-level rope course at VDNKh
skytown.pro
This is a rope labyrinth on the territory of VDNKh. Its four levels include about one hundred balancing structures. One distinctive feature of this attraction is that visitors can make routes on their own, choosing obstacles according to their own preferences or reaching certain locations, such as the observation deck, which offers a view of the park. Guests pay for the time spent rather than for the route: an hour of climbing exercise costs 800 rubles.
